Car turned off while driving, turns on when starting it accelerates and then shuts off

Asked by jessjoking Dec 02, 2014 at 05:59 PM about the 2001 Mitsubishi Galant DE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant DE with 148k While i was driving the car just stopped.
Pulled over and started it again pressed on the gas and looked at the odometer. The
arrow will go to the top and then the car will shut off. Has a half a tank of gas. What can it
be as I am a girl who is not mechanic savy and don't want to get ripped off by a mechanic

Limit driving until you've identified and corrected the problem. I think Alejandro is correct. You can do a diagnostic check with a device sold at Auto Zone for like 50 bucks. They might do it for you without having to purchase the device.

I have the same car u do and my passenger Side Air Bag DID NOT Deploy IN An Accident On Oct 13 and my passenger sustained serious injuries. Looking at the car I think it should have deployed. (Just a sidenote)
