2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse Not starting after overheating

Asked by JifMeister95 Nov 27, 2014 at 12:13 PM about the 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car overheated on the highway, the engine and flywheel are not locked. No heads
were blown. The extent of damage the overheating did is not clear yet because I can't
even run the thing to find an issue..

The starter kicks in and engages the flywheel but the car isn't turning over.

If any other clarification is needed please let me know I do not know much about cars,
especially not foreign ones.

So you can turn the flywheel by hand but the starter won't move it?

OK, you say the engine is not locked. But if the starter kick in and tries to crank it, and it does not turn over, then it is locked up, possibly hydro-locked. But I'm a bit confused...which is it..locked up or not? If ther battery is good and starter, and will over, that, by definition, is locked, seized
