Removal of crankshaft bolt

Asked by Charles Nov 19, 2015 at 10:58 AM about the 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 2000 Mitsubishi eclipse 2.4 liter belt broke
behind the timing belt. We need to remove the crank gear
that drives the timing belt. But there is a nut , looks like a
nut holding it on, does anyone have any idea how we get
this nut off? Thanks

I had to use a chain sinched tight on the pulley by bolting through chain-links, and securing the chain to the wheel brace (photo)
