Where is the camshaft position sensor located on a 2000 Mitsubishi galant 3.0 v6?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The code thrower gave me the code P3040. Bad camshaft position sensor. So I
got the new sensor but I cannot find it on the engine to replace it. I've called the
parts store, the dealership, and scoured the internet for ideas. Has anyone ever
had to replace this? If so, where the heck is it?

Its on the passenger side on the engine at the bottom behind the timming belt. You have to remove both pullys and the timing bely covers. But it there behind allthat
Camshaft and Crankshaft are two different sensors...Camshaft is located on the top right of the engine if you are standing in front of your car...the drivers side adjacent from the airbreather, it is affixed with one 10mm bolt. The Crankshaft sensor is located in the timing belt housing for this vehicle, remove the (4) 12mm bolts holding the housing for the timing belt, don't mess with the belt, then unbolt the (2) bolts holding the crankshaft sensor. All cars are different and NOT all crank shaft sensors are located at the bottom of the engine!
Can you show me were sad on a 2000 and I miss you we should align to point for the cranksensor
