One day going to work car started shutting off and will only run decent at WOT?

Asked by Mickey Oct 06, 2020 at 04:45 AM about the 1999 Mitsubishi Diamante 4 Dr STD Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I noticed my gas tank no longer pressurized or made the
plunk sound the day after car starter running horrible. I
changed plug, wires, distributor cap, fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel
filter, and gas cap. Engine light has been on for years but not
now when car hardly runs. When I press the gas in neutral
50% of the time it misses, bogs, or spits. In drive I have to
feather the throttle to get it to go unless I floor it then it
screams like a wild dog  and hauls . So frustrating I love my
old car had it 10+ yrs and it's my only transportation.  Please
please help me with this issue!!! I am very good at shade
mechanic stuff. Just can't figure out what's the issue since
there's no codes.

With the engine warmed up and idling unplug the MAF sensor...if nothing happens when you uplug it then you'll need to replace it or clean it with MAF cleaner

Yeah it did run even worse. Already cleaned it good with MAF cleaner. I really appreciate your help and anymore advice would be great. Usually I can figure out issues but this something I am not familiar with. What would you pros look at first and what would test and how? Thanks again!
