oil pressure light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I can crank up the expedtion and it idle with no problem for as long as you
want to. Once you get out on the road you can go about 3 or 4 miles and
then the oil light will come on and start to shut the motor down. I was
looking at changing the oil pressure sensor thinking that it may not be
reading right. After it sits for a little bit you can crank it back up and the oi
;ight will be off and you can go a few miles again before it come on again.

I would change the oil pressure sending unit, yes, and do an oil change. When pulling out the OPSU make sure that hole is not blocked up with sludge.
it sounds like your engine is dying for other reasons and the oil light is just coming on as it starts shutting down- who knows? amazing that lumbering pile still runs-
When driving my Ford expedition 2008 I don't have any problems but coming to an idle or stop sign it wants to shake and sound like a diesel engine knocking my oil pressure is good I've had an oil change also if I put it in reverse it wants to shake and knock
I did change the oil filter and oil change. I took it too jiffy lube. The low oil pressure is still on
