Battery keep needing jumped

Positive battery cable touch hood. ..
evening went dead

Might have cooked a diode in your alternator..suggest having it (alternator) tested before buying a new one, while you're there get the battery load tested. That's if it runs at all, but I assume so b/c you say it needs a jump. Battery is not being charged and should have warning light on

Agree With Fordnut, it more than likely cooked the alternator,
