Leg room in a 2019 Ford F-150 SuperCrew
Asked by tallharleyguy May 01, 2020 at 10:46 PM about the 2019 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew LB 4WD
Question type: Car Customization
I am 7' tall and have a hard time driving my 2019 F-150 for more than an
hour before my legs and butt are going numb and I have to stop to stretch. I
shift positions and move the seat controls, but it is just too cramped. I used
to have a 2014 Ford F-150 and it was much roomier and I didn't have these
leg issues. I called a few companies who do vehicle alterations for handicap
people, but nobody is willing to help me somehow get my driver's seat to go
back another 3 inches.
Does anybody have any ideas or recommendations for me?

Ford may offer a seat extender rail which would allow you to attach your seat to it which would give you more leg room. A friend is tall, but not 7 feet. I think the place was called "Seat Extender" or something like that. Attaching to the floor it gives somewhere from three to six inches of additional legroom, while allowing your OEM seat to be attached to it. If your seat has electrical controls underneath, some wiring modifications may be needed to accommodate the additional travel. It is custom made to fit your vehicle. There are some drawbacks. The shoulder/seatbelt cannot be moved. If the belt is not worn properly, you can break your collarbone rather easily in a minor collision. It also means basically eliminating the ability of someone sitting behind you because there will be no legroom. Also, check your insurance policy. Unauthorized modifications to the vehicle may void your policy, but I am sure there is a work around as you are not the only extremely tall person on the planet.
Good answer OJ, I would also recommend a seat rail extender and have an authorized repair center (like the dealership) install it to ensure you are not voiding any warranties. Seats MUST be mounted to very specific reinforced points of the body.

Thanks for the replies guys, but I checked with Ford first and they will not touch it.
Tallguy: Check with Ford and see if the installation of the seat extender will void your entire warranty. The one I saw installed basically mounted to the holes in the floor and extended the rails the seat glides on. If it doesn't void the entire warranty, installation should be straight forward with a few tools.
