1997 eclipse gs smoking instantly on start

Asked by Brennan Jun 25, 2017 at 09:34 PM about the 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car is really boggy trying to start (could be dead
battery) car has sat for over a year. Issue I'm facing
is it's smoking from the intake manifold gasket on
the bottom and the exhaust when I try to start it.
No leaks. No cracked block. Flushed all the fluids.
New oil filter. No water/coolant in my plugs. Smoke
is grey/white, don't hear knocking because the cat
doesn't stay running. Just dies out after a few
seconds. After trying to start and checking my
plugs , there is a tad bit of smoke coming from it.
(Very slight).  I'm new to the car repair world. I
bought this car for 200 bucks. So any help is
appreciated. Next thing I was going to do is replace
the exhaust system.
