With this late of year model,it may be time to rebuild head,valve,s are wore,sometime,s they can be adjusted,but if you have never redone head,it,s time to do so.

They may be adjusted,but if valve cap is tight,you are looking at another rebuild.

Something else to check out is the condition of the oil. Is it oil? Thin? When was it changed last?
