Maintenance - Oil change
Asked by Guru9WV2JN Feb 24, 2021 at 04:53 PM about the 2019 Acura RDX SH-AWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 2019 RDX just hit 9000 miles. I am getting a Oil/Maintenance warning. The
car is not driven often (hence the 9000 miles). The 1st Oil change was done by
the dealership 12/2019. Questions: Because of the low mileage does oil have
to be changed at this time? Is the maintenance warning based on time or
mileage?

Change oil at least twice a year. Don't be cheap on oil changes. New engines could run well over 10 grand.
Time and mileage. Acura recommends changing the oil every 12 months and or 3000 to 5000 miles. You are overdue.
Get the oil changed you cheapskate! It is a $10,000 engine and you are trying to cheap out on an oil change that costs a few bucks. The maintenance minders use a proprietary algorithm that determines when oil changes are required. I never let mine go long enough to have the service message come up. I use full synthetic at the factory recommended grade and change it at 5,000 - 7,500 miles or once a year.
Save $50 on an oil change and destroy a ten grand engine. Must be that new math ;)
