Changing air filter

Asked by METSCHAMPS Feb 28, 2019 at 08:44 PM about the 2019 Acura RDX SH-AWD with A-Spec Package

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 2019 ACURA RDX and want to
change the OEM air filter to a K&N air filter.  I can
not locate the box for the air filter.  Does anyone
know exactly where it is located and how simple it
is to change the air filter?  Pictures are
appreciated.

I was looking for a you tube video as well. I know where the air filter is at but it looks like a wire harness or tubing must come off first to get to the 4 screws that open the air filter box. By the way The K & N filter is the best way to go if replacing ,better air flow ,longer lasting and is cleanable.

Crazy I’m fairly handy but I’m at a loss as well. 3 of the 4 screws are accessible but 1 is below the rubber air intake hose or cover. I can’t figure out how to get to it. Can anyone help?

I've asked around as well on another Forum. Still got not clear answer. One of the 4 screws (front right side) is blocked by rubber/plastic air shroud, which is above the filter housing. Not sure how to remove the shroud or if it’s needed to provide enough clearance to remove & replace the air filter. When you figure it out I’d love to know. If I learn more, I’ll report back.

has anyone learned more about the specifics to get to all 4 # 15 screws on the housing. I've not figured out how to take off the rubber air shroud that is above the housing.

Ok replace mine today with the help of a mechanic friend. you pull the rubber shroud from the bottom, not the top. in the center of the shroud is a pull tab, use a screwdriver and pull up this releases it .now you bend this shroud out of the way undo the 4 screws, and you will be able to open it enough to pull out and put in your filter. Another key is to this when the rubber is heated from the engine the rubber shroud is more bendable.

This is a terrible design, a rubber boot must be removed and replaced for the air intake, prior to accessing the air box. The rubber boot seals poorly to start and returning it to the original position is a exercise is frustration.
