How do I know if the add is a scam?

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

It is a private seller and something is not right about the title. He wants my to
pay off the loan a send me the title.

Sounds like a scam to me. If this were legit you would pay the lender directly and they would do the DMV title transfer.
