Sway/fishtailing
Asked by Sugareaterlb Jul 23, 2019 at 03:24 PM about the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Extended Cab 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My truck has a bad sway in the
rear end. It does it at 35 mph and
up! It is very noticeable driving on
the freeway when changing lanes
and going around bends or
curves. Feels like you can easily
loose control of the vehicle, it's
like it is getting pushed around by
strong winds and it's not windy at
all outside! It feels like the rear
end isn't even attached, scaredy!!

Check for bad shocks or broken springs or rusted out spring mounts.
Figure anything out ? My truck 2017 Silverado 2500 does the exact same thing. Thinking it was the duratrac tires. But it is bad. When on the highway and you have to move out of the way from a pot hole it feels like the backend a extra second to catch up to the front. Almost like riding on jello. Had a similar issue with my old 1500 but the cause was a broken sway bar linkage. Unfortunately that’s not the case with this truck. Just bought it only has 90k miles on it
