Does anyone else besides me think that BMW tires suck?

Asked by joerunner80 Nov 13, 2020 at 05:18 PM about the 2019 BMW 5 Series 530e iPerformance Sedan RWD

Question type: General

Why do BMW tires suck? They seem to get worse and worse.  I have a 5
series and the THIRD tire will now have to be replaced.  I told the salesman
this.  I said the first two were blowouts.  This one is a rear tire with a slow leak.
The third tire to go.  His response?  "Yeah, BMW tires are not that great."
Seriously? SERIOUSLY?  What I am buying, a Chevy Nova?  He said, I could
always buy the insurance.  Well that's great news.  Maybe I should buy
insurance for the steering wheel, too. Will they replace their "Not that great" tire
for free? Of course not.  BMW service seems to have gotten worse and worse
over the years, and I am a long term customer.  I had bad experiences with my
last car, too.  Has anyone else had bad experiences with their tires?

BMW doesn't make tires. You must be referring to the Run flat tires. Your dealer or local mechanic can install a nice set of conventional tires for you, just keep an inflation kit in your trunk. Most enthusiasts do the swap as the run flats tend to ride on the rougher side. Stick with a decent High Performance all season or summer tires, depending on where you live. I recommend Continental and Michelin tires.

You may have Summer tires. Get all season tires or winter tires depending on how your winters are. Tire shops like America's tire will sell you tire insurance for cheap.

Another factor is super low profile performance tires. They do not do well on pot holes and they usually cannot be repaired.
