comfort in driver seat?

Question type: General

Does it make a difference in driver comfort within the various trims?

13 Answers

Possibly. Sit in them and see what you like the best. High trim models can have heated and cooled seats plus leather. Personally I think the most comfortable seats can be fabric covered.

Thank you so much for answering my question. I do agree with you about the leather vs fabric! Fabric seems better. I have had many SUV and car rentals in the past 2 years. The seats have been terrible. Tbh, I was shocked as I've had some pretty nice SUVs. I drive an old Tacoma 06, and my seats still feel new. I am now looking to replace the truck with something else now. Thank you again.

I bought a 2019 SE and I am in love with everything about it except for the drivers seat. It didn’t seem bad when I test drove it but I just sat in traffic for an hour and a half and I am DYING. It’s like it slants forward (like if you hit the brakes a little hard you’d slide forward) so it’s resting weird on my spine and I don’t have back problems. I’m going to see if I can buy a cushion or something but other than that I love this car.

The new 2020 Hyundai Palisade has the most uncomfortable drivers seat with the Hyundai Santa Fe a close second. By far the most uncomfortable seats ever installed in any SUV. I have continuous back and spinal pain when I drive these SUV's. I wake up with no back problems and after driving for 30 minutes in the Santa Fe I feel like a broken man.

@Guru1FCQN I am so sorry for all the physical you have...Your info on the 2020 Palisade, and the Santa Fe is very helpful. I believe I had a Santa Fe rental 2 year ago, and it was pretty bad. I'm still driving my 06 Tacoma, and need to really need to begin looking again. If you find any good cars/subs with comfy seats, let me know. Thank you so much.

Manual seat sits low and tilts forward. I don't know if power seat is better.

Just bought a 2021 Santa Fe. After seating in the drivers seat for more than 30 min, my lower back, hips and legs were killing me. Tried driving it for more than a week to see if my body would adjust but it just got worse. Ended up returning it and took a bit of a hit in the pocket book. Got another Audi Q5 which has less leg room but is far more comfortable.

@Dan, That's a shame you had this issue with the seat. If you don't mind me asking, are you under 6'? I would love to check out the AudiQ5. My #1 issue is driver seat comfort. I just am at a loss of what to buy. I must say, I love the look of the Santa Fe, but it ends there..

I'm 6'5" so I think I'm stuck with buying European cars. Oh well, things could be worse.

2022 Santa Fe Limited AWD owner here… also I’m 5’1 …I test drove the Palisade and loved it but the seat hit me in the back of my knees and ouch… so I drove the Santa Fe with the 8 or 10 way (I believe) power seat…and I thought it seemed fine. NOPE! You can adjust the tip of the front seat to come up for support of longer legs. But not go down further for shorter folks. It seemed a bit shorter…but now…I think maybe I sat differently in it (?) regardless its the worst. And its painful actually…Theres plenty of room under the seat they could have allowed to adjust the FRONT of the front seat to go down a bit more. I’ll be buying or using some kind of cushion that keeps me forward a few inches I guess to get rid of that irritation. Otherwise as far as all else, this car was an awesome value for the $ compared to even higher end options by other manufacturers. It has it all really.

PS crazy perhaps but the MOST COMFORTABLE zillion different way adjustable seat I found was in a Subaru Outback! We’re 5’1 and 6’2 and both loved them. Just needed something with more cargo room. 2022 Sante Fe

santa fe 2020+ limited with leather seat classified as the most comfortable seat in the market I don't know how some of people complain about it?
