can I buy another car while trading in my leased one

You can't trade in a leased car. When the lease is done your equity in the car is zero. You can buy it for the residual value.

In a few circumstances you can actually trade a leased car for another. I have personally done just that. It will be up to the leasing company and the car dealership that you are trading to. My lease that I did this with did have some equity as I made a larger than normal down payment when I leased. Check with the dealership to see if they are interested.
