if you got here, to ask, Google [97 ford egr, not erg ] and take your pick.
Your best bet is the Ford Dealer. There may be some aftermarket EGR valves available as well - the web is your best bet. EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve. It introduces an inert gas (exhaust) into the combustion chamber (usually) during periods of steady speed (cruise). The inert gas takes up space in the combustion chamber thereby cooling the combustion process and lowering the engine's output of NOx (Oxides of Nitrogen). If you try to run without one - other than turning on the "Check Engine" light, your engine will predetonate or "ping"and that's like hitting the tops of the pistons with little hammers.
You should be able to have one shipped. I believe the parts are the same for the 95 through 99.
