1) go to 3SI.org, it's a forum where we 3/S owners are and they're very helpful. 2) fifty bucks will get you a testpipe from maximal performance

3si.org guys helped me shave 2.5 seconds off my 1/4-mi for ~100$. I had a VR4 at the time, so part of the mods were tweaking the turbos. But there are plenty of things you can do for fairly inexpensive.

oh your car is known as the base 3000GT. It goes from base, SL (sport luxury) and VR-4 (Viscous Realtime 4)

Yes. But unless you are changing out all the computers there is an issue with the cam/crank sensors. The 1996 has a separate cam and crank sensor but the 1992 is a two sensors in one model. Tuners prefer to use the older style cause they can actually retard the timing as they want to. But with the separate sensors in the newer ones you don't have that option. I have the wiring diagram for the changes you will need to make if you decide to use sensors already on the 96 motor. These changes will allow you to use the 92 model computer. Very simple change.
