Ground wires

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Where's the ground wire that goes from the battery
to the motor at. Is it a plug of a bolt. My car acts
like the alternator is bad but Its not. Can having a
bunch of oil and black stuff on it completely stop
my car from starting and staying running.

The ground isn't turning green or anything I can see its just all black and sludgy from where's it's stuck at on the motor
Yes that can effect the connection. At least that's where I would start. It's a bolt thru a ring lug on end of cable. View your other post for more details.
