Hi,I'm going to look at a Nissan Maxima 2006 with 76,000 miles. The carfax states and accident and a replaced transmission @ one year ago at the dealer. Should I just walk away from this sale? It's being offered for $8,000

That car must have taken quite a hit to need a new tranny. I would be VERY cautious on this one. I'm guessing that the car took a side impact. This can relate to all kinds of issues with alignment, squeeks and rattles and wiring issues. You have to remember that if you ever want to sell it the same carfax will be there for the life of the vehicle.
Well, that's all I needed to hear...Thanks a million guys...I am walking away from this one...its true..if I try and sell it later the Carfax will still be there. I'll just drive my trusty ole 97 Maxima to the ground or I'll continue my search later on
It wasn't the accident, transmissions in many 2004-2006 Maxima's are faulty. Mine went out at 72k. I wouldn't want to own any of these.
Yup...you're right...these cars have faulty transmissions. Now I'm being offered a 2004 nissan maxima with new transmission for $8,550. 6 month warranty on the tranny...

I would run from any 2004 - 2006 nissan maxima. Spend $2,000 more and buy a 2007-2008 maxima much better investment.
Just had the computer replaced in the transmission of a 2006 Nissan maxima. Only drove it home, but it smelled like something burning. Then drove it the next day and it overheated and now check engine light came on? Any ideas of what caused this? I'm out of pocket 3200.00 dollars.
I’m buying a cvt transmission it’s from 2003 to 2007 will it fit on my 2008
