How much to replace a timing chain and air compressor
7 Answers
This will be VERY EXPENSIVE! You better take a look at the water pump and other things like all BELTS in your car. Why do you think you need to replace the timing chain? Most people, by convention, think that the timing chain normally lasts the life of the car. This is much more involved than replacement of a timing belt. Air compressor?? Do you mean your air conditioning is out as well? These are two major things. I would seriously consider getting rid of this car.
See this, appropriate cost, $2,500. https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index? qid=20110315143922AAn1BK5

Of all the major Japanese auto manufacturers, Nissan and its affiliate, Infinity, have shown to be the most "inconsistent" in automotive quality.
Thanks for your reply Mark! We were on vacation last week and the car was making a rattling sound when driving and clicking noise after cranking. A local shop told us the timing chain is going out and compressor going bad. They quoted us $2200-2500. We were able to drive 300 miles back home but it sounds pretty bad. I wanted to know if this quote sounded about right. Thanks again!
You're welcome, if you can, please mark one of my previous answers as "best answer". And, good luck. By the way, did they say if you had the option of just using your car as light duty and waiting or will that damage your valves like a failed timing belt?
I marked best answer above. They said basically light duty but no guarantee about valve damage. Happy we made it home. I have a neighbor friend going to check it out now. Thanks again!
