Is this your first push to start vehicle??

Yes it's my first push to start the vehicle. I have an apt for 10:30 tommorow to get the software update. I called my dealer to see if they had it. Everything seems so fishy though. Now I'm worried about this 70 mile losing power. I'm scared to drive this car. I am going on a trip in 2 weeks on a highway that is very mountainous and curving roads and steep hills. I think I will rent a car. This is ridiculous after getting a brand-new car and can't even drive it.

You need to talk with your dealer and explain your fears about your upcoming trip. Give them the web address above so they can read all of the issues people are having. Plus there are other questions here and on other websites with many complaints also. I would ask for a Loaner Vehicle, non-CR-V. Ask if they have reported your repair to Honda. This seems to be a problem. The dealer’s aren’t reporting so unless you have called Honda Customer Service, reported the problem and gotten a Case# you are not assured they are even aware of your issue. Now, with this new update, we have to worry about the possibility of losing power while driving. So far, after the new update, two buyers have totally lost power and one had her control panel dim in 1 1/2 minutes, go dark then come back on. We brought our new CR-V home on 2-15-19 and only have 83 miles on it. When I went out (first time driving it from home) to leave for an out of town medical appointment the battery was dead. I had to cancel this very important appointment. I had to reschedule it from 2-20-19 and wait until tomorrow morning 3-31-19 to finally see the Dr. I have no update and have not been notified of one. I have had numerous dead battery/jumpstart incidents plus towing. I think I may rent a car today and send the bill to the dealership and Honda. I will never feel completely safe driving this CR-V. Somehow we have to get Honda to acknowledge this problem and refund our money. I do not want it replaced with another 2019 Honda CR-V EX-L. It’s a shame because when it works it’s a nice vehicle but with at least one “major” design flaw. All we have are each other to truly understand our fears and frustrations but there is strength in numbers. Have you had a chance to read all of the buyers posts on the thread I listed above?

Being in the dealership world for 38 years as a technician, if your trying to prove a lemon law,my advice is hold on! hope you have lots of documentation of the issue at hand,time,and extra money, they will tie you up for a long time,going into detail would take way to much time. Back to your issue, I believe it's a operator error with the push to start system. Good luck.

I politely disagree with your reasoning. People who have had 3-4 CR-V’s in a row, (veteran owners who have had Push to Start system cars since the beginning) are having this very same issue. And they are saying they will never buy another Honda again! And to blame it on “All 2019 new car buyers” not knowing how to use the Push to Start system is so wrong. Sounds like you haven’t read another thread here, on CarGuru. There are people from all over the US and Canada reporting this problem. It appears that there are at least 4 conditions that “possibly” come into play for the parasitic drain to happen. This is according to what we are hearing from our different Honda Service Departments and Case Managers. So logically, more of the conditions that are occurring (at the same time) the higher our chances are of our batteries dying. One condition is the scheduled problematic Emissions Scan/Test which runs after we stop the car and depends on the amount of gas in the tank (from what I gather); two is amount of charge left in the battery; three is outside temperature and four is driving habits. That’s a lot of parameters to take into consideration. Plus now, we may own a dangerous car, after accepting the latest update, if what has happened to two people here is a result of the latest software fix! Meanmel64 I just re-read your post above. I see that you have filed a complaint. I’ve read so many that I’m losing track of who did what so far. Cjsras, I don't agree with you with the operator issue. My issue is with the battery and the evaporative emission system test draining the battery. I know how to push a button. The car is faulty and I've already filed a claim with Honda . Dealerships just won't admit that they sold me a piece of crap and knew it. I'm getting the update tommorow. We will just see how that goes.
