2019 Rav 4 Brake Sounds

Asked by GuruSTQH7 May 20, 2019 at 02:10 PM about the 2019 Toyota RAV4 Limited AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2019 Rav 4 Limited with 10000 miles on it.  Once I start driving after
braking, I get this moaning sound coming from the front.  It only happens when
I get to 25 mph and only after I have been driving for a little bit.  Now, it
happens when I brake very occasionally as well.  I brought the car in and they
say there's nothing wrong with the brakes.  What could this be?

Mine has the same problem after having it for 3 months. I took to service and they say nothing is wrong with the brakes! But is really annoying that grinding metal sound when I press the brakes. I don’t know what to do.

I have the same problems, it's sounded like low fart, annoying toke it to the dealer they told me it's the electronic brake that caused it bull shit. They don't want to fix the problem. The real problem I think is the brake actuator .I will use the Toyota if the brake fell in my 2019 Rav4 hybrid. I have been driving the prius for over 10 years with no such noises.

I took mine in today. I have the 2019 Adventure with AWD. Luckily, the sound occurred three times with the mechanic inside with me. They are keeping mine for now. I was given another 2019 rav 4 to drive. This one is an XLE and not AWD and I haven’t heard the sound yet. So we will see...I’ll update you after I get mine back!

Took mine in for the third time today. First time they couldn’t replicate the issue so got sent home. Second time I told the tech I’ve noticed it more when I’m coming to a stop or letting off the brake to go again. Luckily he was able to hear it and said yup it’s loud we will look into it. Well they took the front apart and noticed that a lot of the ball bearings didn’t have grease straight from the factory so they had to fix that. They apologized and said maybe that was it. Nope....! Came back a week later but yesterday 4-20-20 it was probably the worse it’s ever been. It was making the sound while driving and slowing the car down. I mean it was bad. Called made and appointment first thing in the morning. Well today 4-21-20 it was a cold day and they couldn’t replicated it once again. An actual master tech came out this time but said he would look into it. I’m pretty positive the warm weather causes it to happen more then cold weather. Because yesterday it was 65 and today it’s 35.

Took my 2018 with only 7000 miles in to Toyota because when I step on the brake it makes this horrible squishy loud kind of sound. Toyota told me that the Rav 4 has a tendency to do this. The brakes are fine they said but if I want to replace them for 349.00 it should stop the problem. What the hell? Please help if you have had this problem.

So the issue is the turbulence box. It’s defective in a lot of Rav 4’s and is a service bulletin for them. They will make you go through hoops but just record your car making the noise and they won’t be able to send you away. It’s when the vehicle accelerated pass 15 mPh and slows down between 30-45mph. However once the fix was done now there is a loud noise like your going a sewer crate. So going back again.

Hi All, I have a 2019 RAV4 Adventure and I have experienced the same as some of you (wheezing, whining, low fart, mooing sounds). I took it to Toyota on Aug 17, 2020. They replaced the following parts. See attached. I have not heard the sound again but, its only been a week.

i have the same thing with my Rav4 Limited when breaking and then starting out again. thought it was some hydraulic thing or something. sounds like a moan lol. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow. see what they have to say. assume it should be a known issue with all of the above people having the same issue.

So after the tubulance box was replaced my RAV 4 now makes more noises. After idle for awhile it sounds like a jet liner taking off. Also the fart sound has been replaced with a sound that sound like someone is smacking a metal plate underneath the rear of the vehicle. Make sure you record any noises when you bring it in or else it will be a game of “ we can’t replicate the noise” and you will be at the dealer over and over again. For being my rav 4 braNd new had nothing but issued. Still only has 17k a year later and the noises continue. They finally started a case due to all the videos I had recorded of the noises.

I'm having that groaning sound when I brake with my 2019 RAV4 Hybrid. I'm told it's the hydraulics, and I'm just out of warrantee by 3000 miles. Has anyone reported this, and is there anything officially on file that cites this as an issue? THanks!
