you must OBEY the door jamb specification...anything else would 1.) not be the 'engineered' size and the handling would be different 2,) the insurance company would be reluctant to pay if the new size led to a crash 3.) the vehicle speed sensor or VSS would read the speed incorrectly....so stick to the specified size please~
