Nissan Sentra 2005 AC high pressure?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Couple of weeks ago, after flushing all lines and replacing condenser and drier and running vacuum for hour and half and checking for leaks on my Nissan Sentra 2005, I installed a new compressor with correct amount of oil and charged it with exact amount of R-134a and although I get cold air around 39 degrees and low side reads around 35, The high side reads low. 80-100.

The sellers tell me these new compressors have a control valve that regulates how much the compressor needs to work, hence low pressure reading. Is this variable displacement compressor and is this normal
or ….bad compressor?

I think your parts man is right. If this is a new compressor and not a rebuilt some do have the regulator in them. Sounds like AC is working good. Just keep your receipt for the parts in case you have a problem and need to return or replace them

Thank you. The pressure reading on High side has been nagging at me. I thought maybe compressor or expansion valve issue but then again. the AC is working better than original as far as cooling.

It also depends on the ambient temperature, the colder it is outside the lower the pressures will be. This only goes to 65F but the colder the lower (this will size up to see)

Yes I realize that. That is why I have taken several measurements at different temperature. between 70-80 degrees outside so the pressure should have been 145-210 psi if this was an older style compressor as is the case with 98 Camry I check just for reference..
