2005 nissan sentra gas shoots out fuel tank when filing up

Asked by Tim_Bone_1983 Feb 20, 2017 at 10:22 AM about the 2005 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Every time I put gas in my car it comes back out the filler line. Even while the
tank is empty. I have replaced the fuel pump twice that is suppose to have a
pressure regulator in it but it still does it. What could be wrong with it.

The EVAP canister and purge valve needs to be replace. There is no where for the air to go when filling with gas. The canister filter is all plugged up. When filling a gas tank you are suppose to stop filling when the gas pump nozzle clicks the first time. Over filling a gas tank saturates the canister filter.
