Question type: Maintenance & Repair
When I'm applying brakes - parking car, slowly pulling up at a traffic light -
there's a loud noise - like the brakes are grunting. Didn't have this the first 2
weeks I had the car. I just got it end of Sep 2019. have 1k miles on it. Dealer
says it's normal?? would go away in warm weather???

Brakes do,sometimes, need to be broken in and seated to work silently. It is not a catastrophic failure so work with the dealer and, if it continues for more than a few more weeks, have him investigate further. It would probably go away with a new set of brake pads. Suggest that to the dealer.
The dealer in Kentucky replaced the brake pads with the new brake hardware and yahoo the noise is gone.
thomrun - I have a 2018 Rav4 Hybrid Limited and I have the same noise. Although, I would say it's more of a farting sound when the brakes are pressed. For me, it started making noise at 30k, it was fixed. Then it happened at 60k. it was fixed. And at 90k the noise came back. This time I have the dealer telling me it is "normal" Needless to say I am disappointed and they are not going to address the issue. I did not buy a car to make a noise like that and be called "normal". Anyone else having the same issue with hybrid models?
Yes. 2019 hybrid., farting noise when braking, slowly coming to a stop etc. It's getting worse and I'm only at 9k. This on top of the gas tank issue and the recall notice has me rethinking Toyota.

2017 RAV4 hybrid SE- 7K miles. When I release the brake pedal I hear a creak/groan, even if I an in neutral. Not the pedal itself, but sounds like in engine compartment.
