2004 Nissan Pathfinder Armada is having an issue with the rear gate/trunk.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 armada is having an issue where in the cold (under 30 degrees) the rear gate will
not open at all. You can still move the handle but nothing happens. Also the rear glass
panel will not open at all, even in the summer time. I am still able to pull the handle but
the glass panel will not open. I am not able to open it with my key fob either. If anyone
has any idea of how to fix this, I would be grateful if you could leave me a solution.

I had a problem with my 04 pathfinder-armada. the rear hatch/door would unlock and open only intermittently. the rear glass never unlocked or opened. O took the trim off of the rear door and discovered that the cable for the release of the glass had come undone. I re connected the cable end to the release and the glass was operable. the door issue i discovered was the electronic actuator for the locking mechanism. I intermittently was able to unlock the door. lubing and stroking it from lock to unlock a bunch freed the mechanism and it functions properly now. the tools i needed were two thin flat pry bars to remove the door trim and a socket to unbolt the glass handle to get the trim off the window latch. the whole job took 45 minutes from start to cleaned up.
