I bought a corolla 2010 on October of 2009 from Toyota dealership and it did have a problem with back trunk and told The dealer and showed the problem to the dealer, and they did not accept and they told me it is my fault and I have to pay $600 to fix it. Finally after 4 years so many people complained, finally Toyota accepted the problem is manufacturing problem and fixed it for free. Then my daughter bought a toyota corolla 2010 in 2017, and we assumed that previous owner has taken car to be fixed. Unfortunately he did fix the problem. I took the car to toyota dealership and told them about the problem and the previous owner has forgot to bring it in to get fixed. They told me yes we fixing this problem for free in 2014 and 2015 and stop doing that after that. I told them since this known manufacturing problem and so many people complained then you were fixing them, why aren’t you doing it now, they told me, that was a courtesy and toyota never admitted they had any problem. Now since this is a new 2020, I am sure, I have to wait enough people complain, before they accept it and fix it, and this is dangerous. Particularly when the problem is only in certain batch of production. Is there anything I can do meanwhile, is there any website, blogs or user group that Toyota owner post their problem, so I have enough evidence to prove to them?

This is what I have found out about this problem: Toyota Corolla 2020 owner, test you car if you have this problem (in certain batch only), if you go from drive to reverse after a full stop this can happen. However, when you move from Drive to park and back to reverse this does not happen. For fixing it, your car’s Computer software, needs to be updated.
