Engine oil capacity?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1.5L turbo manual says 4.2 quarts of oil. I very
carefully added 4.2 quarts. Dipstick reads 1/2
quart low. Added 14 ounces more dip sick
reads full. Any body else run into this
problem?

Make sure you have the correct dipstick, there should be a GM number on it, a dealer then can cross that number to make sure you have the right one. Overfilling can cause oil foaming and that can ruin the engine.

I'm assuming you did an oil change. Double check the owner's manual. There's usually 2 specifications. One with an oil filter change and one without. The other thing is if you're using an aftermarket oil filter it might take more to refill the new filter than a genuine GM (AC Delco) oil filter. Hope that helps! Jim
