2002 Nissan Altima with 78,473 miles.

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am looking to possibly purchase this car. The asking price is $7500. What is the true reliability of this auto ? Is the mileage OK for this year and model ? When is the timing belt due for a change ? Are there any flaws that I should be aware of ? I am reading a lot of good things about it, but I also have read some bad stories. Am not sure what to make of all this information. How many miles can these vehicles reasonably get over a lifetime ? This vehicle wil be for my daughter who just recently received her license. Is this a good choice for a young driver or is there another vehicle that you would recommend ? Would appreciate some feedback on these issues...

Price is too high. This car has a timing chain. Not a belt. This jerking can be several things wrong with the car. Have a mechanic at a garage check it out before buying no matter what the price.
