Nissan Pathfinder is reving up and down in park and sputtering in drive

Asked by Guru2PJJ8 Mar 03, 2020 at 09:31 AM about the 2002 Nissan Pathfinder SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We recently bought a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder.  It was revving up and down in
park, but ran fine in drive.  We were told that we needed a new TPS sensor
so we bought that and changed it.  It still revs up and down in park and now
it sputters occasionally when its in drive.  We thought that it might be the idle
control valve but we just changed that.  Any suggestions on what we should
do next?

Idk i have a 2000 Honda Accord 2 door model and have water leaking under the driver aide but qhen it failed emissions it said that it was the idle cenaor or the idle cpntrol throttle and valve

Its your throttle body. I had the same issue. I took it off and cleaned it really well then you have to do the throttle body relearn procedure to get the butterfly to close tightly as there is a gap from the residue buildup that is now gone and the computer has to reposition the plate so it closes tightly. Relearn procedure is in a video easily searched on YouTube
