What is the switch under the hood for?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Switch on the front left side that's depressed when the hood closes. Is this part
of the factory alarm system? The alarm goes off randomly in hot weaather.

It's part of the alarm system. To findout if this the switch that is making alarm go off, tape in the depressed position and see if ur alarm still goes off, if it doesn't do any more, then u need to adjust or replace this switch but most likely it's ur vibration sensor above the steering column, may have to be adjusted for less sensitivity
