I recently purchased a 2001 maxima. It's already broken down twice and the dealer told me that it was a corroded wire leading to the alternator that was causing all the trouble. It seems to be running fine now, but all of a sudden, the abs, traction control system, and slip lights are all on. The Nissan dealer said I may have an abs issue. Did I buy a lemon?
I bought a 2001 Maxima about a month ago...I've only driven it for probably two weeks though since it's had so many problems. It broke down once, they replaced the alternator(which was brand new by the way). It broke down again and they said it was a corroded wire leading to the alternator they'd just put in. It seems to be running okay now, although it feels a bit shaky now and then and I'm just waiting for it to die again. All of a sudden the abs, traction control system, and slip lights have all come on. I called the Nissan dealer (who I just gave $170 to have a once over done on the car) and he said it sounds like my abs system may be having a problem now. I am so totally frustrated at this point, I don't even want the car anymore. Did I buy a lemon from the getgo? thanks
