The radio and speedometer just went out on my 1997 Ford Taurus - could this be a fuse? If so I cant determine which one it is. I looked at th diagram on the fuse box top but cant figure out which one operates those two funactions

Hoagie, if you look at the fuses it should be fairly obvious which one(s) have blown. Your owners manual should tell you which number fuse belongs to which component.

If you're having a hard time finding which fuse it is that either correlate's to the particular accessory you're looking for or if you can't tell whether or not a fuse is blown you can always go to any parts store and pick up a fuse kit...that is a bunch of fuses with a little yellow plastic thing with a green indicator light on it...for about 20 bucks...generally a little less but around there for one with all the fuses you'll need and the tester. It's simple to use and very self-explanatory.
Id say it probably is a fuse. I wouldnt waste time with diagrams. Testing fuses is easy enough. The tester in the kit that was mentioned works well if you dont have a testlight. I dont remember the breakdown on my old tauruses but keep in mind there are two fuse panels. Id say that logically it should be on the interior one but I cant remember.
