The safest way is to have a good independent shop with a dealer quality scan tool do it for you. But if you like living on the edge, then disconnect the battery and turn on the headlight switch, this uses up any reserve energy that might be stored in capacitors, wait a minute then shut off the headlight switch, reconnect the battery then drive it as you normally would for 20 minutes, do not shut the engine off during that time or you will mess up drive time protocol. That’s it. Now if you have any preexisting problems they will return and turn on the light.
