2014 Toyota Hybrid Camry Check Hybrid System
Asked by csclady Jul 13, 2018 at 03:10 PM about the 2014 Toyota Camry Hybrid LE FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Our car has 116K on it and the Check Hybrid System message. Can I safely
drive it on gasoline power until we determine our next step? My sister's
gasoline only 2000 Camry has 370K.

Read your owners manual and see what Toyota says to do when the light comes on. I could not say what is safe or not without knowing what is wrong.
The owner's manual said to take it immediately to the dealer. My mechanic read the code and said that I needed the Battery Bank replaced by the dealership. I've read a bunch about the 2007 Camry Hybrid on here and know that's probably not my first step.
You can look into aftermarket batteries and reconditioned batteries.
There is a lot of conflicting and sketchy information out there on the web about hybrids. I suspect you will eventually be stranded by your car until you replace the battery. No one said being Green is easy.
We went with Toyota because they've successfully been at it the longest. The car is just four years old--didn't expect this yet. Being Green is NOT easy. Thanks for your comments.
You cannot run the hybrid car just on gasoline.
Hybrid mechanic said you can drive your hybrid car on gasoline
No it will eventually go on limphome mode and die
Csclady...curious....how did that hybrid repair go. Is this vehicle still running well?
I had the same issue with my 2012 Camry. I made it run on gas for like weeks. And now I reset the code and runs fine.
