Temp gauge is not working right

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima and the temp gauge goes to the middle then will go back down to cold and stay for a little while then go back to the middle. I changed the one thermostat the other is about a yr old. What do you think it could be?

I hve same issue in my 99 model maxima can sme 1help changed thermostat coolant and flow is there no leak cooling system is fine i dont know y temp guage goes to middle in idle
