Alternator replacement

Asked by Guru6QKPB Mar 26, 2020 at 11:41 PM about the 1998 Nissan 240SX 2 Dr STD Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Battery was hooked up backwards and fried
the internals of the alternator. New alternator
installed, no accessories in car. Headlights ,
dome light ect. Alternator not pumping out
any juice to the battery. Only has voltage that
battery had in it when put in. This was the
exact same problem we had before changing
the alternator but accessories would work.
Struts were changed and main power ground
was attached to top mounting bolt. This
worked in the past but maybe with these
struts there is not a strong enough ground for
accessories to run? Is there a main fuse that
goes the battery. The alternator has no power
to it on positive side either. Does it sound like I
have a bad ground situation?

You also blew some of the main fuses. Check those and replace.
