Question type: Maintenance & Repair

it had a motor replaced by the dealership. but it wont run. i was told that the ECM was possibly bad. someone else has attempted to play mechanic and has removed the ECM. there are 2 more in the car. so i dont know which one is original. thjey have also for some reason started to remove the gas tank. there was a push button starter switch that was connected to the starter, a power lead, and a ground. just installed a brand new battery. so power has been disconnected for about 2 years.
so my questions are what are my chances of getting this thing running?
since original ECM has been disconnected, will one in it communicate with scan tool and provide obdII codes?
do I have to do anything to ECM.
this should be an easy fix and up and running, right?

Hey Dan, I just bought a 99 XJR that is not running and has sat for a couple of years...so maybe we carry that same gene! LOL! Anyway, I suggest that you try over at the Jaguar forum to get responses. If you happen to be in Florida, perhaps we could commiserate over a beer! Jim
