Stop-Start feature not working correctly?

Asked by GuruMB1CG May 18, 2020 at 10:32 AM about the 2020 Ford Edge SEL FWD

Question type: General

I recently purchased a 2020 Ford Edge.  I am only inclined to use the stop-start feature at traffic lights in my neighborhood I know are long.  However, the engine always starts back up after 40 seconds with the AC on.  With AC off, the engine stays stopped.  I read that the AC compressor shuts down when using this feature.  Is it normal to have the engine come back on after only 40 seconds?

This has to do with your climate inside the vehicle. If your AC is on, the vehicle will shut off but it will come back on when the temp inside raises a few degrees past your set point.

The AC cannot work without the engine running. I would say this is by design.
