My 1997 Nissan hardbody is blowing the oil filter off.

It blew the oil filter off away from home,screwed it back on filled the oil
up,started the truck blew it off again,had this filter on for 3000 miles no
problem,someone said it's oil pressure relief valve in the oil filter housing.

Could also be crankcase ventilation! Check your rear main seal, enough pressure to blow the filter could also be blowing the seal out. I suggest getting a mechanical oil pressure gauge and take a reading, and may want to check compression as well, on the long shot you have a hole in a piston. But hopefully it is nothing more than the pressure relief, the oil filter is afterall first in line from the oil pump.

I think what you have is a regulator valve, which is a part of the oil pump.

You should replace the oil filter housing. The threads are now messed up and will probably not hold a filter on even with normal oil pressure.
