What do you do when your headlights won't turn off, or they come on by themselves?

Asked by ksm102366 Apr 13, 2015 at 05:20 PM about the 1997 Nissan Quest 3 Dr GXE Passenger Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 97 Nissan Quest whose headlights came on when I turned on the ignition but
didn't turn on the headlights.  Then they wouldn't go off when I turned the ignition off. They
also wouldn't go off when I turned the headlight knob on and back off again.  Anyone?

Electrical short, bad switch, bad relay or bad fuse. Unhook the battery as not to drain it while you figure it out. You can buy battery quick disconnects from local autoparts store if it is going to be an ongoing issue.
