how to change blown head gasket

This is an in-depth repair. You'll need to tear down the engine, remove the headers, see where the gasket is leaking at, check the heads for warping, check the block to make sure you don't have any cracks, etc. Without really going into detail, unless you have a very high mechanical aptitude, an engine hoist, about two to three days, a ton of patience and a preference for busted knuckles....you'll want a shop to do it. And it's going to be in the thousands, so I would weigh that against the truck's value and determine if it's even worth repairing.
