we are replacing the flywheel on a 96 explorer 4.0 automatic, the old flywheel has what looks like a hub and all the after markets dont.

thanks, I didn't find one like mine. the one I have is strange, the reason I call it a hub is because it spins inside the plate. it seamed to be pressed and tac welded. the 6 holes spin.

So, did you take the flex plat off? What is in the center of the flex plate is the end of the crankshaft, and that would be just a pilot for lining up the flex plate. Without the bolts in the flex plate, it would spin around that center hub. Just pull the flex plate off.

Here i a picture...as you can see the bolt holes are seperate frome the plate.....any thoughts
