Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Hi everyone!
I have a 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette GLS 3.4L van that
cranks but doesn't start. 3 mechanics have looked at it,
both crank sensors have been replaced, fuel pump pressure
is fine, fuel filter changed, spark plugs and wires changed,
fuses are alright. Have no idea what it is as I usually add
fuel to throttle body, after pulling out sensor there, and it
starts fine and runs smoother then ever. Turn it off and
starts right away again, but after 5 min 10 min it wont start
anymore. Cant afford 100$ diagnostic fees anymore :(

First put a charger on the battery let it charge for a while then try, Did it start? Yes replace battery.(not kidding) no start remove schraeder valve from fuel rail test port you can use a valve stem tool to remove schraeder valve, put a hose over fitting to keep gas from spraying, next turn on ignition switch did you get a strong stream of fuel? Yes, check injector resistance I don't know the spec off hand. If no replace fuel filter recheck ok? No change fuel pump.

Have you tried cleaning the throttle body ?
Thank you for suggestion no I haven't tried that. They told me it was now a cam sensor fault as it is in same relay as crank sensors and they couldn't retrain because of that...
Thank you Mike. Battery is good fuel pump is good and filter is good. I am going to try the other things suggested and see what happens cause it cranks but doesn't turn over
Anytime, take.your time, life is short remember beer breaks
Update. Got power steering pump out to replace cam sensor and now pump wont go back in... wont line up with holes. Only one way in and one way out. Any suggestions to make this go back in to line up mounting screw holes?
Same problem with my 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette. Our fix was replacing the “electronic ignition module”. Mechanic said when it heated up it would expand and create a cut off of power to spark plugs. The cost for parts and installation cost me $250.
