How long can I drive my 96'Ford with the refrigerator
compressor unplugged?

That's as simple as it gets... drive it as long as you want.

Thank you guys. I dont know I'm pretty sure it siezed. It was glowing red and smoking. I found you guys and in one of the blogs someone had a similar issue and it was suggested to pull the plug. I immediately did started him back up and the horrible whaling stopped a little squeeking from the belt that got burnt but now no noise at all just no defrost. I live in AK so right now AC isn't a big deal. I can save up and buy him a new belt and comprossor for summer

Actually A/C is very important to you in AK! The car uses the A/C to defrost the windows, not the heater. The A/C acts as a dehumidifier to dry the window.
