Traction control engages on dry non slippery surface.

Asked by John Oct 23, 2016 at 08:41 PM about the 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette 4 Dr GLS Passenger Van Extended

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When taking off from a stop, with the wheel turned
(for sure, can't remember if it has ever happened
with the wheel straight) the traction control will
engage 9 out of 10 times. Let off the accelerator
and then back on and it goes away. Also, (unsure if
these two problems are related) when traveling at
around 55-65+ mph you can feel a vibration that
gets worse as you turn the wheel, such as getting
off on a highway exit ramp and bending around d
with the ramp. Or as the vehicle moves faster and
the vehicle starts to naturally glide up and down
with the suspension the vibration picks up as the
vehicle gets lower.

That makes sense for the traction control acting up. But what about the vibration?

Sounds like you have a wheel bea ring going out .causing the vibration amd causing the traction control to inadvertently kick in. That would relate to all of you concerns . As it heats up while driving it's dragging a bit giving the TCS faulty information have it checked before it gets worse .good luck
