Why do I constantly have to keep changing my distributor cap? I have to put a new one on about every 6 to 8 months.

I have your answer that will solve your issue. Buy an AC Delco brand cap, will solve your problem for good. I chased same problem for months, mine wouldn't last a couple of weeks. This info was very hard to find, but it was the solution. ALL off brand caps will short out, they are badly designed, therefore, you keep replacing caps. I tried all brands myself, until I found this info. Use AC Delco, problem solved. On a side note, some of these off brand caps developed tiny cracks (cannot be seen), however, would leave green residue on the contacts, meaning moisture is getting in there fouling things up.

I must clarify, ALL off brand caps for our platform are designed badly. I've never had a problem with off brands with any other vehicle ever, period.
